Persia and Persian Rugs

Persia is an alternate name for Iran. Persia formally declared itself to be Iran in 1925 at the beginning of the Pahlavid dynasty under Reza Shah. But by an act of the Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Persia and Persian are declared to be appropriate when speaking of Persian Rugs. That is any rug woven n Iran is a Persian Rug.
